Chelsey A. Christiansen

Chelsey appreciates that the nature of litigation, particularly within the context of the family unit, can be overwhelming. She approaches all clients with compassion and empathy, motivated to achieve a satisfactory resolution expeditiously and cost-effectively. Chelsey has experience representing clients in family law matters at the mediation, arbitration, trial, and appellate level.

In addition to representing clients through divorce, child custody, and support proceedings, Chelsey also serves as court-appointed counsel for Montgomery County parents involved with the juvenile dependency/child welfare system.

Some of Chelsey's considerable skills and accomplishments as a family lawyer include:

  • Successful appeal to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, and subsequently Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to vacate a trial court order terminating an alienated parent’s parental rights
  • Successfully litigating a child support action and obtaining retroactive child support after proving the opposing party shielded income
  • Negotiating comprehensive divorce settlements, including dissolution of marital business entities, and all other economic claims
  • Representing parents throughout all levels of the custody litigation process and negotiating favorable custody arrangements on behalf of clients.

Prior to entering private practice, Chelsey completed a judicial clerkship with the Honorable David R. Workman of the Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Chelsey also has experience working for a local public interest organization and a local public defender's office. Her dedication to family and child welfare is longstanding and fortified by her educational experiences. A graduate of the Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Drexel University, Chelsey was honored with the Eve Biskind Klothen Law Student Pro Bono Distinction Award. During her time at Penn State, she co-founded Boulevard, a community service organization committed to donating time and funds to THON.

Chelsey has maintained her commitment to contribute to her community and holds leadership positions withing the Montgomery Bar Association. A graduate of the MBA Leadership Academy, Chelsey presently serves as Vice-Chair of the Children and the Law Committee and Treasurer of the Young Lawyer’s Section. Chelsey is also involved in the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Family Law Section, serving as a member of the Membership Committee.

Outside of her legal practice, Chelsey enjoys spending time with her family (including her adorable dog, Lenny), exploring her local community, and traveling. A Montgomery County native, she spends many of her weekends rooting for the home teams, particularly the Nittany Lions.
